Pick both languages, then hold a conversation. Tap a coloured button, speak, and it translates & reads the reply aloud for the other person.

One phone, two people. Person A taps their button and speaks — Rosetta translates and speaks it in Person B's language, then B replies the same way.

Share the room code — up to 4 people can join. Each person picks the language they speak and the language they want to read; what anyone says appears under their video as live subtitles, translated for you. On a phone, tap CC and speak to send a subtitle. In the same room? Use earphones or keep one device muted to avoid echo. Chrome or Edge work best.

Language is not a barrier

Rosetta is a free translator that works right in your browser. Translate typed or spoken text across 40+ languages, hold a two-way live conversation on a single phone, or make a peer-to-peer video call with real-time translated subtitles — with no sign-up, no API keys and nothing to install.

Text & voice translation

Type a sentence or tap the microphone and speak — Rosetta detects the language, translates instantly, and can read the result aloud. Copy the translation or swap the two languages with one tap.

Live conversation mode

Two people, one phone. Each person picks their language, taps their button and speaks; Rosetta translates and speaks the reply aloud in the other person's language.

Video call with live subtitles

Start a call, share the room code, and each person sees what the other says as real-time translated subtitles. Calls are peer-to-peer, so your conversation stays private.

Talk to anyone, face to face

Ordering at a market, asking a doctor a question, meeting a new colleague: put one phone between you and take turns. Each person taps their own button and speaks; Rosetta writes it down, translates it and reads it aloud in the other person's language.

Every line stays on screen with the original underneath, so either of you can check what was said. Download the transcript when you are done.

Built for every situation

Ask for directions

Open the Quick Phrase Kit for ready-made travel, food, medical and emergency phrases, then tap one to translate it into the local language.

Show, don't shout

On a noisy street, tap Show to person and the translation fills the screen in large type, so the other person can simply read it.

Hear how it sounds

Press the speaker under any translation to play it aloud, so you can let your phone do the talking at a counter or in a taxi.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rosetta free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up and no API keys, and no limit on how much you translate.

Is my translation private?

Rosetta does not store what you translate. To produce a translation, the text is sent to a translation service (Google Translate, with MyMemory as a fallback), and voice input uses your browser's speech recognition, which in Chrome is processed by Google. Video calls are peer-to-peer and are not recorded. See the privacy policy for details.

How many languages does it support?

40+ world and regional languages, including all the major Indian languages plus Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Can I translate a live conversation on one phone?

Yes — Conversation mode lets two people talk on a single device, translating and reading each reply aloud in the other language.

Can I translate a video call?

Yes. Start a call, share the room code, and each person sees the other's speech as live translated subtitles. Chrome or Edge work best.

Do I need to install an app?

No — Rosetta works in any modern web browser on phone or computer, with nothing to install.
